Aoun: Go on with your insults Walid Beik, I will no longer respond to you

Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said Tuesday that MP Akrah Chehayeb organized a protest in Alaay where he stepped on photos of Minister Gibran Bassil. Aoun added that Chehayeb himself told Acharq Al Awsat Daily that Jumblatt and President Suleiman have agreed to hamper Aoun and Bassil’s projects.       

Following his bloc’s weekly meeting, Aoun said that National Struggle Front leader Walid Jumblatt is attacking him whenever he wants. Addressing him, he said: “Go on with your insults Walid Beik, I will no longer respond to you”.        

Aoun said that burning tires and cutting off roads has now become a trend, adding that the state has become a spectator “as if it was not responsible for this”. He called on security forces to act on their own “for they do not need to be assigned to maintain security”.       

Aoun pointed out that officials are most often in cahoots with security incidents “because they attend protests”.      

Aoun conluded that the LAF and security forces are charged with maintaining security; “they must act immediately”, he said.
