Akkar MPs urge government to rise up on the regime that established it
Future bloc MP Mouin Merhebi said that the night shelling in Akkar did not prompt the government to accelerate the deployment of LAF along the borders, adding that decisions have remained ink on paper “as if the state is not concerned by the region of Akkar and as if the LAF is not tasked to protect the nation’s borders”.

Following a meeting with Akkar's MPs and officials, Merhebi called on the U.N., the Lebanese Red Cross and the International Red Cross as well as the Arab League and ambassadors to visit Akkar and check up on the shelling and attacks carried out by Assad’s troops against the region. He urged the international community to pressure the "government of self-disassociation" to deploy the LAF to protect the nation.

Merhebi called on the current government to rise up on the regime that established it, stressing that there is no alternative to the sate for the protection of borders, “unless it wanted to ignite a fire in Lebanon at the request of the Syrian regime.”
