LAF denies alleged meeting between its commander and unnamed politician
The General Command of the Lebanese Armed Forces denied Friday, claims published by a local paper which said that a private meeting was held between LAF Commander General Jean Kahwaji and an unnamed politician. The meeting allegedly revolved around the general situation of the LAF and its tasks in the face of the country's developments.
In its statement the General Command reiterated the LAF's doctrine which conflicts with the notion of political compromising, especially in regards to the inner workings of the military institution. "The command only works within legal and official channels," the statement concluded.
