Makari: Statements in Al-Akhbar are false

Deputy Speaker Farid Makari denied the authenticity of the remarks attributed to him in Al-Akhbar daily article entitled: Israel knew what was in store for Rafik Hariri.

Makari stressed that the statements attributed to him in Al-Akhbar are false, adding that he will send a statement clarifying the misunderstanding.

The local newspaper quoted Makari as saying: “I know who killed martyr PM Rafik Hariri, but I will not give out any names”, hinting at the Syrian regime, but backtracked by saying: “I am sure that U.S. and Israeli intelligence were aware that an event of such magnitude would rip through Lebanon”.
