Hamadeh: Justice Minister’s call for the removal of Merhebi’s immunity is unconstitutional
MP Marwan Hamadeh stated on Thursday that the call for removing MP Mouin Merhebi’s political immunity is unconstitutional adding that article 39 stipulates that no legal claim should be made against a member of the parliament based on his/her views or beliefs.

As a member of the Parliamentary Bureau Committee, Hamadeh called on House Speaker Nabih Berri to reject the request, or otherwise it would be rejected by the majority of the Bureau itself and the Administration and Justice Committee.

He also called on the Justice minister to prosecute criminals who are undermining the country’s security instead.
