Rai to hold Maronite meeting, all parties to attend

Vicar General of the Patriarchy Bishop Samir Mazloum said that the meeting between different Maronite officials will be held on Friday in Bekerke under the aegis of Patriarch Beshara Rai. Mazloum stressed that no party declined the invitation.

Bishop Mazloum told LBC TV station that 80 to 85 per cent of all tenets regarding the electoral draft law are agreed upon, adding that Rai’s remarks reflect his role, not only within the boundaries of Lebanon, but as the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East.

On the one hand, Lebanese Forces bloc MP Antoine Zahra told LBC that the party will attend the meeting without any reservations.

On the other hand, Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan told LBC that the bloc did not set any preconditions for attending the meeting, calling on all parties to be present. Kanaan added that the presence of all Maronite parties will not only be an expression of good will, but also to show respect and commitment to principles set forth in the past.
