Syrian shells targeting Akkar: spontaneous error or intentional mistake?

Sources reported on Sunday that Akkar border towns were hit by a considerable number of shells from the Syrian side of the border.                  

Residents had to leave their homes and headed to safer regions. The residents implored the top officials to protect them from the Syrian attacks and to prevent the violation of the Lebanese territories.          

Sources told LBCI that more than 25 mortar shells fell over Akkar towns, where only material damages were reported.                     

In this context, the Mukhtar of Munjez town of Akkar Tony Antonios told LBCI that a great number of residents left the town due to the Syrian shelling; stressing that gunfire was not heard in the town’s neighborhoods and that infiltrations from the Lebanese territories did not take place.                        

While Bkirki’s social institution promised Munjez residents that they will be compensated, the region’s residents called on military and political authorities to protect them from the shelling.                       

On the other hand, the border towns’ residents fail to find refuges to hide during Syrian shelling, leading some of them to leave their homes and then return the next day.
