Gemayel warns of despotic sleeper cells in the region

During an international conference titled "Arab Spring and Peace in the New Middle East: Muslim and Christian Perspectives", Kataeb Chief Amin Gemayel warned of sleeper as well as active cells in the Arab World represented by the “old despotic and extremist forces” which threaten of imposing new dictatorial regimes.

Gemayel called for spreading the principles of democracy, freedom and diversity in the Arab countries. “This could lead to real peace in the region and among the nations and the religions”, he said.

For the same conference, Turkey’s PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the Syrian regime of killing its own citizens and called for a “wise management” of this “transitional phase” and for the protection of minorities in the region.
