March 14 leaders try to bridge the gap with the Syrian people
From 2005 and until this day, circumstances in Lebanon have changed, so did the slogans chanted by March 14. The coalition has a history of calling for the withdrawal of Syrians from Lebanon and even offending the Syrian people.

March 14 leaders are now trying to contain and control their partisans using new concepts to convince them of the necessity of supporting the Syrian people, “this people who have been a friend and a partner in suffering from the Syrian Baath regime”.

In this regard, member of the Kataeb political office Serge Dagher told LBCI that the Syrian people today are going through the same experience the Lebanese people lived a few years ago, adding that the cannons that shelled Lebanon at that time are the same cannons that are firing at Syria today.

For his part, member of the Lebanese Forces Central Council Charbel Eid stressed that both the Lebanese and Syrian peoples are facing one murderous regime, pointing out that the frequency of massacres and crackdowns made March 14 loathe this regime.

March 14’s Christians have a lot of work to do to break the wall of ice they built between them and the Syrian people. This wall was unmistakable in the latest sit-ins held to call for the expulsion of the Syrian ambassador and that included insults addressed to Syrian opposition figures who participated in the movement.
