Proudly, Made in Lebanon: the story of the Lebanese industry

With the Lebanese industry finally managing to compete with international products, it remains in dire need of support and consumer trust. The bureaus seen in some offices were not made in Italy or Spain, the glass was not made in Germany and the radiators were not made in China; all these products were made in Lebanon.   

Despite the fact that Lebanese products are now up to par with foreign goods in terms of quality and durability, they are sold as “foreign products”, just because the Lebanese people have not learned to trust their own products.      

In this regard, Michel Neemeh, a Lebanese industrialist, told LBCI that his company is a family-owned business, adding that he took the idea from the Gulf and the technology from London.    

For his part, industrialist Jean Aoun told LBCI that no one is smarter than Lebanese industrialists, stressing that the Lebanese products are now up to par with foreign goods; Aoun hoped that the government and the people will help the Lebanese industry.       

As for industrialist Ibrahim Maalouf, he told LBCI that the Lebanese industrial sector is suffering from the lack of facilities and electrical power.      

In these industrial cities that lack the minimum requirements of an industrial sector, there are success stories that are in need of support in order to expand the Lebanese industry and in turn lift the “made in Lebanon” slogan.
