Civil Marriage demonstrators, beaten and humiliated

A small group of young men and women demonstrated on Monday outside parliament to demand the passage of the civil marriage law. But the security forces tried to stop them by force and led them to the police station.

One of the demonstrators told LBCI that there were about only 7 of them.

“We were shocked when the security forces attacked us. We were humiliated, beaten and sexually harassed with a rifle,” he added.

MP Ghassan Moukheiber had to personally interfere to solve the matter and release the detained demonstrators who promised to pursue their case until civil marriage is legal.
