First meeting to follow up on the crisis of cement companies in Chekka
Prime Minister Hassan Diab chaired on Wednesday evening the first meeting of the Technical Committee in charge of following up on the crisis of cement companies in Chekka (which was formed pursuant to Resolution 97/2020).

The meeting was attended by Minister of Environment and Administrative Development Demianos Kattar, Minister of Industry Imad Hoballah, Director General of the Ministry of Industry Dany Gedeon, Director General of the Ministry of Environment Berj Hatjian, PM’s Advisors Dr. Elias Assaf and Dr. Assaad Eid, Head of the Union of Koura Municipalities, Karim Bou Karim, Head of the administrative council of the National Cement Company, Pierre Doumit, in addition to representatives from cement companies, environmental and civil entities, University of Balamand and the American University.

At the beginning of the meeting, PM Diab stressed the need to reach a solution that is consistent with all stakeholders, including municipalities, cement companies as well as environmental and civil entities.

The meeting touched on the main available solutions for the work of cement companies in the region, solutions that take into account environmental laws.
