Aoun meets with UN Kubis

President Michel Aoun met on Tuesday with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jan Kubis at the Baabda Presidetial Palace.

Talks reportedly tackled the negotiations on the demarcation of the maritime borders with Israel and the preparations for the next round.

Kubis explained to Aoun the UN’s role in these negotiations, noting that participants in the first meeting showed a great deal of responsibility and professionalism.

In turn, Aoun thanked Kubis for "the role played by the United Nations in sponsoring and hosting the negotiations at the UNIFIL headquarters in cooperation with the United States as a facilitator."

Aoun also voiced hope of "reaching an agreement that preserves the sovereign rights of Lebanon.
