Sleiman presides a meeting in Baada to discuss Taif’s unimplemented items

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman presided a meeting at the Baabda palace in the presence of experts, advisers, and jurists who discussed the Taif agreement items which remain unimplemented, as well as possible amendments that could ameliorate the application mechanism of the agreement.

Sleiman also met with the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction Margareta Wahlström.

Wahlström praised the cooperation efforts the Lebanese institutions are exerting in the disaster management field.

She also invited president Sleiman to attend the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction that will be held in Geneva in 2013.

Sleiman received as well Major General Issam Abou Jamra and former ministers Jean Obeid and Wadih El Khazen.
