ISG calls for formation of a Cabinet that has capacity and will to implement necessary reforms

The International Support Group for Lebanon said on Wednesday that it is observing with increasing concern the worsening social and economic crisis in Lebanon, voicing its regret at the continued delay in forming a new government capable of urgently implementing the needed reforms and facing the worsening plight of the Lebanese people.

The group also stressed once again the urgent need for Lebanon’s political leaders in to agree to form a government that has the capacity and the will to implement the necessary reforms without further delay.

It urged both the current caretaker government and lawmakers to fully implement their immediate responsibilities, by taking all available legislative steps to alleviate the economic pressures faced by Lebanese families and businesses.

The group concluded by welcoming France’s will to hold an International conference for humanitarian aid and early recovery to support the Lebanese people in early December, co-chaired by the United Nations, without diminishing the urgent need for a government to be formed and for reforms.
