Introduction to the evening news 03-11-2012

Two major developments took place on the Syrian field:                 

The Syrian opposition tried to take over the Taftanaz military airport in Idlib, in an attempt to isolate Aleppo from Damascus. The Syrian government uses the airport to supply with fuel helicopters and warplanes which shell nearby villages.             

On the other hand, three Syrian tanks have entered the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights, leading Israel to respond by filing a complaint with the United Nations peacekeeping forces in the region.                         

In this context, the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi denied, in an interview expected to be published on Sunday in Al Rai Kuwaiti daily and Al Watan Qatari Daily, the fact that Iran has sent fighters to Syria, revealing that his country owns unmanned drones that are able to reach two thousand kilometers. Salehi defended Hezbollah's drone sent to Israel. "Hezbollah has to know what is going on there in order to be prepared," Salehi added.                       

Meanwhile, Lebanon is preparing for the brief visit of the French President Francois Hollande to Baabda Palace expected to take place on Sunday morning. This visit has a special importance, as it comes during a political crisis which is represented by the insistence of the opposition on boycotting the Parliament's sessions, which will weaken the cabinet and prevent it from presenting draft laws.
