Nahas: Mikati and Sleiman’s statements are personal opinions
The Minister of Labor Charbel Nahas said that the opinions voiced by PM Mikati and President Michel Sleiman about funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) are no more than personal statements and do not impose any obligations on the Cabinet.

Nahas added that the STL issue needs to be discussed in a cabinet meeting and not publically to avoid tensions.

In an interview with Voice of Lebanon Radio, Nahas mentioned that the Free Patriotic Movement will vote against the STL funding, as the movement does not trust this institution nor its suspicious role and goals.

Nahas added that any decree for indirect funding is unacceptable and illegal, as it requires a cabinet decision for the allocations to be part of the government budget.

Asked about the administrative appointments Nahas said that several obstacles are still blocking this issue such as Ashraf Rifi’s post, Suhail Bawji and Abdel Menhem Youssef.
