Bassil: It became clear to Lebanese that there are judges who care about pursuing corruption
Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil said on Saturday that there is an attempt to prevent a judge from reaching the truth because “she decided to reveal the amount of money that was transferred abroad,” in reference to Mount Lebanon Prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun’s latest raids on Mkataf Exchange Company offices on Awkar.

“It has become clear to the Lebanese that there are some honest judges who care about pursuing corruption cases and are only driven by their conscience and their sense of responsibility,” Basil noted during a press conference.

“On the other hand, it is clear that there are also helpless or corrupt judges who collected their money and properties through corruption,” he added.

As for the Cabinet formation process, Bassil noted that his party did not tackle the one-third-plus-one share.

“We only asked about who would name the Christian ministers,” he noted.

Bassil stressed that the only case where the nomination of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri to form a Cabinet could be withdrawn is the resignation of the Parliament, adding however that the time is not appropriate for holding early parliamentary elections.
