Supreme Council of Defense takes a series of decisions to fight smuggling

President Michel Aoun signed on Wednesday decree No. 7797 dated May 26 to refer an expedited bill to the Parliament aimed at approving the ratio card and opening an extraordinary additional credit to finance it.

On another note, Caretaker Minister of Health Hamad Hassan explained the health challenges and difficulties that the sector is facing, mainly the financing of the materials, supplies and medicines amid the economic crisis.

He also presented the procedures and decisions he issued in this regard, and he also requested the Banque du Liban to facilitate the financing process for the health sector according to priorities and needs, provided that it is done in coordination with the Ministry of Health.

As for the smuggling dossier, the Supreme Council of Defense decided to request from the security, military and customs apparatuses to maintain coordination with each other to increase their effectiveness regarding combating smuggling and to work to anticipate operations by exchanging information and monitoring any suspicious plans.

The Council also requested from these security apparatuses to take maximum measures and procedures against violators.

For his part, Caretaker Minister of Finance Ghazi Wazni said that the tender for scanners will be launched after preparing the book of conditions within a maximum period of one month from its date through the Tender Department.

This as Caretaker Minister of Interior Mohammad Fahmi presented his report after he was entrusted to communicate and coordinate with the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after it issued a decision preventing the entry of Lebanese agricultural products into its territories.
