Head of Medical Social Gathering Raef Rida: Shutting down the country is necessary to contain Omicron

Head of Medical Social Gathering Raef Rida stressed on Wednesday that it is essential to close the country, as well as the Beirut International Airport during the holidays in order to avoid the worst.

“Despite certain international health opinions questioning the effectiveness of the two doses previously taken against Omicron variant, it is critical to take the third dose of vaccine,” he explained.

He also stated that “the complete closure of the airport is the shortest way to limit the spread of Omicron,” adding that “herd immunity has not yet been achieved.”
