Mikati: Boycotting national dialogue disrupts all rescue initiatives

Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced on Thursday that boycotting national dialogue is a political stance and a democratic right, but “it contributes, intentionally or unintentionally,to the disruption of all the rescue initiatives launched to save the country.”

Mikati urged all political leaders to place their political disputes aside and work hand in hand to counter the economic challenges, maintain the growth and recover trust in one another.

During the inauguration of the Second Lebanon Economic Forum, Mikati said that Lebanon has demonstrated immunity against regional turmoil “despite what some leaders expected.” He stressed that the status quo requires resilience, determination and assiduous efforts to overcome this difficult phase with minimum losses.

Mikati reassured all parties that the main pillars of the Lebanese economy remain steady, adding “the banking sector is still strong and industrial exports are growing fast.”
