Head of Syndicate of Food Importers in Lebanon Bohsali: We are victims of exchange rate fluctuation

Head of Syndicate of Food Importers in Lebanon Hani Bohsali stressed on Tuesday during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show on LBCI that prices did not go down as much as the citizen wanted, explaining that “there are several pricing mechanisms and it is unacceptable to compare large and small shops.”

He also pointed out that the syndicate does not represent all merchants, adding that “they entrusted the pricing mechanism approved by merchants and supermarkets to the Economy Ministry," which he described as difficult.

He then explained that “there are thousands of goods that need to be set price.”

“We are victims of exchange rate fluctuation,” Bohsali mentioned, highlighting that the clothing and electronics sector have pledged to lower prices, but there is no mechanism for monitoring and pricing, so the Ministry has no right to blame us.
