Information Minister Ziad al-Makari pointed out on Friday that “the difficult conditions that the country is going through require upgrading ministerial work in order to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese, as well as prioritizing the national interest over narrow calculations to the scope of comprehensive national action.”

The minister’s comments were made after a meeting with President Michel Aoun on the occasion of his appointment as Minister of Information succeeding former Minister George Kordahi.

For his part, Aoun wished Makari success in his new duties, underlining the “importance of all forms of media at this critical stage in Lebanon's history.”

“I hope for cooperation between everyone for the welfare of Lebanon and its people,” al-Makari stressed, adding that "the country is suffering from a grave crisis that requires action rather than words."
