Motorcycles are a danger on Lebanon’s streets

Thousands of Lebanese citizens buy used unregistered motorcycles for the going-price of 100,000 LBP. Meanwhile, the prospects to implement the related law are thin, since the government is leaning towards allowing motorcycles to roam free.

The central security council had decided to impose regulations on motorcycle importing companies, especially the SMEs amongst them. This measure will coincide with the enforcement of a new law prohibiting small used motorcycles and their spare parts.

The decision taken by the central security council to prohibit motorcycles from circulation will go into effect in Beirut as of the first of November. The decision excludes motorcycles of press institutions, pharmacies, security appliance stores and food delivery services.
