Itani to LBCI: It’s better not to discuss the file of the Lebanese pilgrims detained in Syria

Journalist Fidaa Itani told LBCI TV show Nharkom Said that the circulating information regarding the release of the nine Lebanese pilgrims detained in Syria’s Aazaz is inaccurate, stressing that it is better not to discuss the subject before their release.

Itani then revealed that he wishes to return to Syria, emphasizing that he’s still in contact with some friends in Aleppo. However, he pointed out that the current situation is not favorable for his return. “Abou Ibrahim needs to calm down first," he affirmed.

Itani then added that everybody knows about Abou Ibahim’s history and his former job as an arms smuggler, stating that the latter is a key player in the military structure in Aazaz.

When asked about whether he knows the reasons behind his detention by Syrian rebels back in Syria, Itani said that he cannot talk at the moment, revealing that LBCI owns a video that shows what happens and the role he was playing in the Syrian file. "The channel will decide what to do with it," Itani added.
