President Aoun: What happened in Tripoli hurt us and should be addressed in all aspects
The Cabinet held an extraordinary session on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m at the Baabda Presidential Palace headed by President Michel Aoun and attended by PM Najib Mikati and the ministers.
The Cabinet is discussing the sinking boat off the coast of the northern city of Tripoli and its repercussions, as well as the security situation in various Lebanese regions.
At the beginning of the session, Aoun said: "We extend our condolences to the families of the victims, and we wish a speedy recovery for the wounded survivors, and we hope to know the fate of the remaining passengers who are still being searched for.”
During the session, he stressed that "what happened in Tripoli hurt us all, and it must be addressed in all aspects.”
Aoun added that the competent courts must investigate the sinking of the boat amid conflicting stories, with the aim of clarifying the truth and putting an end to any contradictory interpretations or explanations "
It is worth to mention that the Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, the Director of the Lebanese Army Intelligence, Brigadier General Tony Kahwagi, and the Commander of the Naval Forces, Colonel Haitham Dhanawy, who attended the Cabinet session, gave a detailed presentation of the facts regarding the boat’s event, supported by documents and photos.
