Relatives of Lebanese abductees in Aazaz stage sit-in, threaten to escalate protests

The relatives of the Lebanese abductees in Aazaz held a sit-in outside the Turkish embassy in Rabiyeh on Sunday to call for the release of their loved ones.

The protestors read a statement to the Turkish ambassador stressing that the continued detention of their “innocent” sons was a “daily humanitarian crime,” holding Turkey fully responsible for this.

They pointed out that they have not seen any serious efforts to put an end to this “humanitarian case”, adding that as of 1/1/2013, they will escalate pressure on all Turkish institutions in Lebanon and in any other country they manage to reach.

Eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 20th of May. Only two have so far been released.
