Rai addresses Lebanese on Christmas, calls for peace and a new electoral law

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai called on all parties of Lebanon’s political spectrum to act as peacemakers and consequently draft a new electoral law other than that of the 1960s. He also called for forming a new government “which would be in line with the principles of coexistence and capable of leading the country towards parliamentary elections held on time.”

In his Christmas message to the Lebanese, Rai said that Lebanon and the Middle East are in dire need of peace away from violence, wars, terrorism, destruction, prisons, torture, dictatorial regimes and violations to human life.
