Mikati meets with US Secretary of State Blinken
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati held a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in New York, in the presence of Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib, Lebanon's permanent representative to the United Nations Ambassador Amal Mudallali, advisor to PM Mikati ambassador Boutros Asaker, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, and US mediator Amos Hochstein.

Following the meeting, Blinken confirmed that he had a fruitful meeting with Mikati, adding that they discussed the need to hold presidential elections at the appropriate time and the need to implement reforms to support the Lebanese people.

Blinken then stressed that the US will continue to work with Lebanon to achieve peace and prosperity.

For his part, Mikati indicated that all files were discussed, noting that the necessity of holding presidential elections was particularly emphasized.

"We discussed issues related to the displaced Syrians and the agreement with the International Monetary Fund and electricity, in particular the educational file, as we are beginning new academic year,” Mikati stated, saying that they had all the responses needed.

Mikati also revealed that the maritime border demarcation file is witnessing great progress.
