Audi: The presence of a president reassures the people

Metropolitan bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church for the Archdiocese of Beirut Elias Audi stressed on Sunday that the officials, especially the deputies, must serve the country.

Audi’s comments were made during his Sunday sermon, whereby he pointed out that in light of the presidency vacancy, narrow interests do not contribute to saving the ship from the inevitable sinking, saying that “a session is held once a week and does not show seriousness, and the deputies leave as if they have completed their duties, which makes us feel as if they underestimate us.”

Audi then mentioned that the elections, of all kinds, are a natural and routine matter in democratic countries, and instead of wasting months and years waiting for the completion of this democratic duty, they focus on other important matters such as citizens’ happiness, climate change, environment, and development.

“The presence of a president reassures the people, as he will work to save the state and reform its administrations,” Audi noted.
