Lahoud receives Abdel Karim Ali

Former President Emile Lahoud met on Wednesday with Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali in the presence of the former MP Emile Lahoud.

The three discussed the latest local and regional developments as well as the Syrian crisis and the initiative of the international envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi.

In this context, Abdel Karim Ali said that political solutions are the only way to overcome the crisis, urging the Lebanese authorities to monitor those who enter the Lebanese territories and to differentiate between those who are seeking shelter and extremist groups.

"Hosting extremist groups and adopting extremist ideologies affects negatively the whole region and Lebanon," the ambassador added.
