Protests across Lebanese regions to express grief on killing of LAF members

In condemnation of the attack against the Lebanese Armed Forces in Arsal, citizens took to the streets in many Lebanese regions, condemning the tragic incident and voicing their support for the LAF institution and members.    

In the south, residents of border towns rallied in Marjaayoun condemning the assault on the army, cutting off the highway for several minutes and distributing Lebanese flags to pedestrians.       

In the Bekaa, the residents of the Qasr Naba town held a peaceful sit-in on the town’s main road expressing their solidarity with the LAF and condemning the Arsal incident. In a statement, residents called on the concerned authorities to punish the criminals who, according to them, “attacked the country’s fence.”     

Also in the Bekaa, former members of the Association of Armed Forces in Hermel expressed their solidarity with the Lebanese army and condemned the attack. In a speech, Sheikh Ali Taha called on concerned authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice, considering that this attack was an attack on the nation’s  dignity.       

In al-Kaa border town, a movement was held in solidarity with the LAF in the presence of the town’s residents and officials. During the protest, MP Marwan Fares stressed that the town and its residents stand by the LAF institution, “the only guarantor of national unity.”

On Friday, a Lebanese army patrol was attacked by unidentified gunmen in Arsal. Major Pierre Bachaalany and First Seargent Ibrahim Zahraman were killed during the attack, while several other soldiers were wounded.
