Parliament renews mandate for senior officials

The parliament held on Tuesday a session to elect new members of the parliamentary offices and committees along with their rapporteurs.

It was agreed on shelving the election of the heads of committees for another session.

According to an agreement reached by Speaker Nabih Berri and the heads of parliamentary committees, some parties will retain their positions so that both secretary generals, Marwan Hamadeh and Antoine Zahra, will have their mandate renewed. The three commissioners, Ahmad Fatfat, Michel Moussa and Serge Torsarkisian will also retain their posts.

As for the election of the parliamentary committee members, few modifications might be applied so that an MP can replace a minister of the same bloc.
