Cabinet holds session, Mikati-Sleiman meeting behind closed doors
The cabinet held a session in the presidential palace on Tuesday, headed by President Michel Sleiman.

Ministers will discuss the 2012 state budget bill drafted by Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi along with other pressing issues.

The president met with PM Najib Mikati ahead of the session to discuss the general situation and recent developments.

Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas said that he will convey the opinion of the economic bodies which are calling for reconsideration of the wage increase and deferring the issue to the price index committee.

Energy Minister Gibran Bassil denied that MP Walid Jumblatt had already turned down Arab funds initiatives to fund the electricity plan, saying “this is untrue.”

Minister of State for Administrative Reform Mohammad Fneish stressed that he has many remarks on the state budget, especially on its content.
