Zasypkin: STL a mechanism of international legitimacy

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin said on Saturday that “Russia always supports the implementation of U.N. resolutions pertaining to Lebanon, including that related to the STL”; highlighting Russia’s financial contribution to the Tribunal on the ground that it is “a mechanism of international legitimacy.”

Following his meeting with Head of Future Bloc Fouad Siniora, Zasypkin confirmed Russia’s adherence to Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, highlighting the importance of preserving stability in Lebanon and ensuring the security of all Lebanese citizens, in a way that assures that events in Syria do not affect the situation in Lebanon.
