REPORT: Civil Aviation employees threaten to join UCC strike

      
Demonstrators staged on Friday a sit-in near the airport road, upon the call of the Union Coordination Committee (UCC), amid intensive security measures undertaken by the Lebanese Army and the security forces.                 

In this regard, the UCC’s sit-in outside governmental institutions entered its fourth week.               

On another note, a spokesman of Civil Aviation’ employees stressed that the airport employees will hold a strike if the series of ranks and salaries is not referred to the Parliament on the 21st of March.             

It is worth noting that the UCC will hold another protest on Saturday near the revenues building of the Ministry of Finance in Beshara al-Khoury.              

Earlier, the airport’s direction confirmed that air traffic will resume as per normal on Friday, regardless of the sit-in.              

Other demonstrations were also held throughout the week outside different official buildings across Lebanon, with still no solution to the workers’ crisis which has repeatedly disturbed the country’s official operations and school activity in sight.               

The Union Coordinating Committee launched its open ended strike on February 19th 2013 after making repeated called on Prime Minister Mikati to validate the new salary scale and consequently refer it to Parliament for ratification.
