US State Department requests of its nationals to avoid traveling to Lebanon

The US State Department requested on Tuesday of its nationals to avoid traveling to Lebanon citing the security situation as the main reason. The State Department called on all US nationals who live in Lebanon to be vigilant of potential hazards that may take place should they stay in the country, "since the roads leading to the airport may be cut off due to escalating popular uprisings".

In this context, the US State Department reported in a statement that the security situation in Lebanon is "worsening and the abductions are skyrocketing", and considered that the Lebanese authorities are "incapable of ensuring protection to their citizens or to tourists should violent clashes suddenly break out".
