Gemayel: There is no serious work in regards to holding the elections on due time

The Kataeb Party Leader Amine Gemayel said on Tuesday that holding the upcoming parliamentary elections should be on the basis of an electoral law agreed upon by all parties ruling out the possibility of reaching consensus before the 9th of April.

In this context, Gemayel said that some elements make of the current electoral law illegal adding that some facts indicate that there is no serious work in regards to holding the elections on their due time.

Gemayel said that he did not yet choose the name of the new prime minister and assured that Hezbollah is cooperating with its allies in order to reach a common stance in this regard.

“Various signs show that  Deputies of the Change and Reform Bloc headed by MP Michel Aoun will be presenting their candidature applications on the basis of the 1960’s law,” Gemayel concluded.
