President Sleiman meets with Greek Orthodox Partiarch Youhanna Yazigi

        
President Michel Sleiman held a meeting on Wednesday at the Baabda's Presidential Palace with the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Youhanna Yazigi and a delegation of the Maronite Patriarchs in Lebanon whereby they tackled the general situation both on the internal and regional level, and mainly the developments in Syria as well as the situation of Christian minorities in light of the current crisis.            

In this context, Patriarch Yazigi extended his gratitude to Sleiman who congratulated him for being elected as Patriarch, stressing on the important role of the Greek Orthodox Church that "remains open to other communities".           

On another note, Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Samir Mokbel discussed with President Sleiman the work of some Ministerial Committees as well as the achieved work that was referred to Parliament.               

It is worth noting that Sleiman extended his condolences to the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the victims of the earthquake that hit Iran yesterday.
