Judge Cheaito pursues money transfers under the guidance of the Penal Code

Sources informing LBCI revealed that the decision taken by Financial Prosecutor Judge Maher Cheaito — requiring individuals and entities, including bankers, to deposit in Lebanese banks amounts equal to those they transferred abroad during the crisis, and in the same currency — is based on a previous decision by the Indictment Chamber in Beirut and is supported by legal provisions stipulated in the Penal Code.
