Saudi courts jail Lebanese man for converting a woman

Local Saudi newspapers reported  on Sunday that Saudi courts jailed a Lebanese man for six years and sentenced him to 300 lashes after convincing a Saudi woman to convert to Christianity.

The court also sentenced a Saudi man to two years in prison and 200 lashes for helping the young woman flee the kingdom.

The woman, known only as "the girl of Khobar", received refuge from Sweden where she lives under the protection of NGOs.

Last year, she had appeared in a YouTube video announcing she had chosen to convert to Christianity.

Both men are set to appeal the court's stances in this regard, while lawyer of the woman said that she "is satisfied with the sentence."
