Macron says France stands by Lebanon, backs army support conference

France stands alongside Lebanon, a friendly nation, to defend its sovereignty, support its armed forces and accompany the reforms needed for its recovery, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

In a statement posted on X, Macron said preparations are underway in Paris for a conference to support the Lebanese army, aimed at strengthening their capabilities and reinforcing their essential role in safeguarding Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty.

Macron added that France and Lebanon share the same priorities: respect for the ceasefire, stability, and the pursuit of lasting peace in the Middle East.
