Lebanon closes schools nationwide on Tuesday amid security concerns

Lebanon's Education Ministry announced the closure of all public and private schools, as well as vocational and technical institutes, on Tuesday due to the current security situation.

In a statement, the Education and Higher Education Ministry said the decision was taken out of concern for the safety of the educational community. The ministry said it will continue to assess developments daily in coordination with relevant authorities.

The ministry also said it would not accept citizens seeking administrative services, certifications, or equivalency requests on Tuesday due to security conditions.

Education Minister Rima Karami condemned what she described as attacks against Lebanon and expressed solidarity with displaced families. She said a list of public schools has been placed at the disposal of the national emergency response plan to serve as shelters and provide suitable accommodation.

The ministry urged members of the educational community to adhere to its guidance and wished safety for all Lebanese people.
