Industry minister says diplomat intervention must support Lebanon

Industry Minister Joe Issa el-Khoury emphasized Lebanon’s decision to expel the Iranian ambassador, saying that “a Lebanese minister took action against a foreign individual who exceeded diplomatic boundaries,” and stressed that the move should have the support of all Lebanese citizens.

El-Khoury clarified that there is a clear distinction between a diplomat intervening to support the Lebanese state and a diplomat acting to back an “illegitimate group” operating outside the framework of the state.
