REPORT: President Sleiman calls on Hezbollah not delve deeper in Lebanon-Syria crisis

                
President Michel Sleiman marked on Friday the Resistance and Liberation Day and delivered a speech in Yarze whereby he stressed that "Hezbollah should not delve deeper into sectarian strife whether in Lebanon or in Syria,” pointing out that Lebanon had paid a heavy price to 'sow the seeds' of democracy.       

On another note, Sleiman said that there are three options now facing Lebanon vis-a-vis the sectarian law [referring to the Orthodox Gathering draft law], the 'stale' law [referring to the 1960 electoral law] and the extension of Parliament’s mandate.      

President Sleiman also pointed out that the appointment of Prime Minster-Designate Tammam Salam was “easy” but added however that the formation of the new government is “faltering” due to the conditions and counter conditions of the opposing blocs.  

Separately, Sleiman noted that the Lebanese Armed Forces are not divided, calling on the government to provide the military institution apt political cover.        

Earlier in the day, President Sleiman arrived to the Army Command headquarters at the Defense Ministry in Yarze where he met with Caretaker Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn, the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Jean Kahwaji as well as high-ranking officers.
