Cardinal Rai calls on Lebanese MPs to look into electoral laws

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutro Rai stressed on Tuesday the need to adopt a new electoral law to later approve the required extension of the current parliament's mandate for "technical reasons", the state-run National News Agency reported.

In this regard, Cardinal Rai called on the Lebanese deputies to examine the electoral laws and adopt a new one, calling on them to preserve the dignity of all the Lebanese people.

Caretaker Justice Minister Chakib Qortbawi representing President of the Republic General Michel Sleiman, Ambassador of Poland to Lebanon Thomas Igodzis and high-ranking officials bid farewell to Cardinal Rai who headed to Poland in the context of his pastoral visit to last until next Friday.
