Mikati speaks in honor of president in Tripoli
PM Najib Mikati said on Sunday that Lebanon’s position in the Arab League was based on certain considerations as well as historical and geographical facts that take into account the country’s distinctive nature, adding that Arabs will understand these considerations.

During a lunch he held in honor of the president at Rachid Karami Fair Grounds, Mikati urged the Lebanese leaders to respond to the calls for national dialogue to spare Lebanon the repercussions of the regional developments.

Mikati promised that the cabinet will press on with its work avoiding political debates, stressing that the ministerial statement is the government’s roadmap.

The prime minister confirmed that Tripoli holds the state as “its first and last reference.”

President Michel Sleiman, in turn, called for redoubling efforts to improve the democratic processes and overcome challenges through reason and justice.
