[VIDEO] Hero Pilot Lauded For Saving Lives Of 447 Passengers In Emergency Landing!

Senior Virgin Atlantic pilot David Williams, 47, was dubbed a ‘hero pilot’ for having saved the lives of 447 passengers as he landed the jumbo jet with faulty landing gear.

Williams was lauded by passengers after he carried out a 'text-book' landing of the US-bound Boeing 747 which suffered the failure of one out of its five sets of wheels.

Emergency teams rushed to Gatwick airport while the jet made an emergency landing having spent three hours circling the south of England dumping fuel.

"All of our pilots at Virgin Atlantic are trained to the highest standards and we go through regular testing to deal with any scenario that may arise,” Capt Williams said in a statement via Virgin Atlantic.

It was said that Williams' 12-year-old daughter was on board the Boeing 747 involved in Monday's emergency landing.
