Wendy El Khoury, a former Lebanese international wedding planner, has seen some of the most opulent nuptials worldwide, where flower budgets are $1 million and the bride chooses from five couture wedding gowns.
Now editor of Australian online weddings publisher Wedded Wonderland, Wendy has shared the most extravagant weddings she witnessed, saying “from Arabian Royalty, Hollywood starlets, to Asian tycoons, weddings are big business and no expense is spared”.
Here are some of the most opulent weddings:
1- Ali and Lana, Beirut:
Ali and Lana invited more than 1,000 of their nearest and dearest to their wedding in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
A huge seven-tier wedding cake was the center-piece for their fairytale nuptials.
2- Larina and Ben, New York:
Larina and Ben’s wedding, held in New York, was elegant and filled with white and pink florals.
The couple tied the knot in a grand city venue with high ceilings, gilt-edged mouldings, trompe l’oeil paintings, and antique chandeliers.
3- Sandy and Rod, Sydney:
The couple wed at the University of Sydney in a stunning setting created by Jason James Design.
The cake was made of three bespoke hand-painted cakes, each embellished with individual gold leaf geometric shapes.
4- Nadia and Sam, Beverly Hills:
For the couple’s Beverly Hills wedding, thousands of the bride's favorite peonies, which were out of season, were flown in from Holland!
5- Brittany and Justin, Lake Como:
Brittany and Justin's Italy wedding, which stretched over three days, featured everything from pasta tasting sessions to fireworks.
