Each married couple waits for this precious moment in life: pregnancy. Impatiently, husband and wife wait for their own child to see the light of day.
 
Meanwhile, they are no doubt more than curious to know how their unborn child is doing and how he/she looks like.
 
Dutch photographer Leonie Versantvoort came up with the idea of the painted belly project in collaboration with body paint artist Marieke van den Dungen-Crone who helped her bring her vision into reality.
 
Mom Kristine Smits helped them in their project by being their model.
